I had the opportunity to experience the fantastic oratory skills of Mekhi McKinney as he served as the keynote speaker for The Public Charter School Board and DC Charter School Alliance’s Rainbow graduation ceremony in August 2023. Mekhi’s overall presence and message empowered the graduates and the members of the multiple school communities. He provided insightful talk that captivated the audience to stay committed to who they are as individuals while striving towards their life goals. What impressed me most about Mekhi’s oration is that he can relate to audiences of all backgrounds and can engage anyone through the sound of his voice. I met Mekhi in October 2016 as an incoming Sophomore. who was quiet still had a presence he was not aware of just yet. As we began to talk about school, long term and short term goals, it didn't take long for me to see what he couldn't. I remember telling our former Principal, this guy is going to make major moves. Don't sleep on him. Here we are today, Mekhi is a voice for this generation that is relatable, full of wisdom and hope. He is relatable not because he wants to be cool and seeking blue checks, you see, Mekhi knows where his help and strength come from. I want you to know young man that every experience you went through was your process for purpose. It wasn't happening to you, it was happening because of who you are and who you are becoming. You are an atmosphere shifter, the answer to what seemed to be someone's unanswered prayer and the solution to someone's problem. You were called and set apart at an early age and what you may have thought was going to keep you out, is what God was using to bring you in. You inspired me then and you never cease to amaze me now. I won't get too excited because you got next Sir. Your words will reach millions and become a global name. No it's not because you are better than anyone else, what you didn't like about you was different, your difference was God preparing you for your purpose. My prayer is that you allow yourself to be used for greater things, remain humble, stay in His presence and allow Him to keep opening doors no man can shut. Be encouraged "Friend" . I am so proud to have met you and to watch you grow. If you’re looking for someone to reach one, teach one, he’s your person.

If the earth could select an ambassador to embody the creativity, excellence, & passion that it springs forth daily, she would do well to choose Mekhi McKinney. During my time as a Youth Pastor at one of the largest churches in the DMV (Zion Church, Pastor Keith Battle), we were blessed on multiple occasions to experience Mekhi inspire the rising generation in an exceptional manner. Mekhi’s words have a way of reverberating into the souls of many because they echo his life. I am a first hand witness that he is credible, consistent, & courageous.
